Peer Support Specialist

Location Manchester, NH and Derry, NH Schedule Part‑time: 20–38 hours per week Per Diem: 8–48 hours per month Compensation $17–$18 per hour, paid biweekly About On the Road to Wellness On the Road to Wellness is a non‑clinical, peer‑led mental health organization that has served adults in Manchester and Derry since 1988. Our work is rooted in the belief that healing, recovery, and wellness are supported through connection, choice, dignity, and meaningful community. We provide free peer support services to adults ages 18 and older who are experiencing or are at risk of mental health challenges. Services are offered at no cost, with no insurance or identification required, and include one‑on‑one conversations, groups, wellness planning, transportation assistance, community activities, and connection to helpful resources. Peer Support Agency & Step‑Up Step‑Down Program Our Peer Support Agencies in Manchester and Derry are welcoming walk‑in centers where adults can find support, community, activities, support groups, and connection while working toward wellness and recovery. The Step‑Up Step‑Down Program is a voluntary, peer‑run residential program in Manchester that offers short‑term, 24‑hour peer support in a home‑like setting for adults who benefit from additional support while building stability and community connection. Responsibilities Support adults in a voluntary residential setting through meaningful conversation, group support, wellness planning, daily structure, and connection to community. Provide peer support in one‑on‑one conversations, groups, activities, wellness planning, participant engagement, and connection to community resources. Maintain reliable attendance at assigned program locations. Qualifications A strong commitment to personal recovery, self‑care, and wellness Excellent communication skills, reliability, and a strong work ethic The ability to report reliably to assigned program locations A willingness to be open, honest, and thoughtful about how lived experience can support others A willingness to become trained as a Certified NH Peer Support Specialist within one year of hire Pass a BEAS Registry screening Pass a NH Department of Safety background screening A valid driver’s license and reasonably clean driving record for residential roles Previous justice involvement is not disqualifying; we value diverse lived experiences Compensation and Benefits $17–$18 per hour, paid biweekly 12 paid holidays for eligible regular‑scheduling employees Paid day off for employee’s birthday for eligible employees Required training provided by the organization No‑cost educational advancement opportunities NH Peer Support Specialist Training Course Recovery Friendly Workplace Per Diem Roles Per diem positions are not regularly scheduled and are offered based on program need and staff availability.
