Follows regulatory requirements in the blood gas lab, runs quality control tests, and changes analyzer cartridges. Documents interdisciplinary education and plan of care. Participates in interdisciplinary rounds and provides input to ensure appropriate patient care. Assists with bedside bronchoscopy procedures. Performs respiratory therapy treatments and procedures per provider orders, department policy, and recognized standards of care. Sets up, monitors, and adjusts ventilators, both invasive and non-invasive, and documents changes. Delivers aerosolized medication, oxygen therapy, invasive and non-invasive ventilation, and performs lung function testing. Draws, analyzes, and reports blood gases to assess respiratory status. Responds to rapid response calls, code blue situations, and performs CPR. Other duties as assigned.
