The purpose of this position is to perform skilled work inspecting buildings and facilities for fire hazards and compliance. This can include existing buildings, various facilities, and buildings under construction. This is accomplished by enforcing fire codes, NFPA standards, performing fire inspections, and reviewing plans for code compliance.**Please note this is a Fixed-Term (Contract) position that is eligible for benefits.****Other duties include:*** Conduct fire safety inspections of both new and existing facilities and buildings for conformance with existing codes.* Investigate fire cause and origin, which includes evidence collection and preservation, detailed report writing, and court testimony as required.* Investigate citizen complaints involving fire safety or hazardous conditions.* Review plans for fire/safety construction and fire suppression systems for compliance with applicable codes and standards.* Prepare inspection reports and enters information into a computerized database.
