Job Description
Cath Lab / Interventional Radiology Technologist

We are seeking an experienced Cath Lab / Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background working in a Level 1 Trauma Center.

Position Details

Shift: Day Shift with On-Call Rotation (Includes weeknights, weekends, and holidays)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Verify patient identification, ensure the presence of signed informed procedural consent, and assess allergies and history of contrast reactions prior to procedures.
Check the integrity and expiration date of sterile supplies, as well as the type and concentration of medications.
Monitor and record vital signs and assess distal pulses before and after procedures.
Engage in pre-procedural time-out activities to ensure patient safety.
Prepare access sites using sterile drapes and covers while ensuring patient comfort and cooperation.
Collaborate with the physician to select appropriate contrast agents and set up the automatic contrast injector.
Administer injectable medications per physician's orders, including analgesics, anticoagulants, thrombolytics, and vasoactive medications.
Recognize and respond effectively to patient emergencies, maintaining and monitoring medical equipment throughout procedures.
Scrub in alongside the physician, utilizing sterile and aseptic techniques to prevent infection.
Advocate for radiation safety and protection, monitoring fluoroscopy time and documenting radiation doses.
Position patients and/or imaging equipment to achieve optimal imaging projections.
Acquire and process digital images and perform 3D image reconstructions as necessary.
Assist with ultrasound guidance for vascular access or biopsy procedures.
Document all procedural data, including injection data, physiological data, and administered medications.
Provide post-procedural care to patients, including applying dressings and closure devices.
Educate and provide instruction for students and colleagues in the department.

Education and Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited radiology program.
Certification/Licensure:
- IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required.
- ARRT(R) required.
- ARRT(VI) or ARRT(CI) required.
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
- NIHSS certification preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
