Clinical Research Coordinator Associate (Fixed-term 6 months)

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative, and Pain Medicine at Stanford University’s School of Medicine is a world-leading department offering comprehensive training and patient care in perioperative medicine, pain management, and critical care, while conducting cutting‑edge research across basic, translational, clinical, health services, and medical education. The department seeks a Clinical Research Coordinator Associate (fixed-term, six months) to manage moderately complex aspects of one or more clinical studies. The role involves coordinating study activities under close supervision of the principal investigator and/or study coordinator, managing clinical and biological data, enrolling participants, overseeing follow‑up visits, and supporting regulatory and financial obligations. Duties Serve as the primary contact with research participants, sponsors, and regulatory agencies. Coordinate studies from startup through close‑out. Determine eligibility of and gather consent from study participants according to protocol. Assist in developing recruitment strategies. Coordinate collection and processing of study specimens. Collect and manage patient and laboratory data; maintain research databases, develop flow sheets and other study documents, and submit case report forms. Ensure compliance with protocols, audit forms for completion and accuracy, and prepare regulatory submissions, including IRB renewals. Assemble study kits, monitor procedure scheduling, coordinate charges, and attend monitoring meetings with sponsors. Monitor expenditures, adhere to budgets, and resolve billing issues with finance and/or management staff. Interact regularly with the principal investigator to ensure patient safety and proper study conduct. Ensure essential documentation and recording of patient and research data in appropriate files per institutional and regulatory requirements. Participate in monitor visits and regulatory audits. Other duties may be assigned. Education & Experience Two‑year college degree and two years of related work experience or a bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong interpersonal skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Knowledge of medical terminology. Certifications & Licenses Society of Clinical Research Associates or Association of Clinical Research Professionals certification is preferred. Physical Requirements Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat, and perform fine-grasping tasks. Occasionally sit, reach above shoulders, perform desk‑based computer tasks, use a telephone, write by hand, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds. Rarely kneel, crawl, climb ladders, grasp forcefully, sort and file paperwork, or lift or push objects weighing 40 pounds or more.
