Senior Budget Analyst

Organization Overview The Finance Department encompasses the Controller's Office and the Office of Budget, Treasury, and Research Administration. These offices are dedicated to ensuring the integrity of financial data submitted, recorded, and reported while providing exceptional financial services in support of the University's biomedical research mission. Overview The Senior Grants and Budget Analyst reports to the Director of Sponsored Projects Accounting and plays a key role in the University's post-award grants management activities and annual research laboratory budget process. This position provides financial oversight, award administration, budgeting support, financial reporting, and guidance to Principal Investigators and laboratory administrators across a diverse portfolio of sponsored projects and institutional funding sources. Responsibilities Serving as the primary post-award finance contact for approximately 15 Rockefeller University research laboratories. Establishing and maintaining award accounts in Oracle Grants Accounting, including award setup, budget entry, modifications, and closeout activities. Administering grants and contracts in accordance with sponsor policies, regulations, and University guidelines. Monitoring grant activity and accounts receivable on a daily basis and communicating with sponsors and/or the Development Office regarding outstanding receivables. Performing accounting and financial management for government-sponsored, foundation-sponsored, and donor-funded awards. Preparing financial reports, invoices, vouchers, and sponsor billing documentation. Providing direct support to Principal Investigators and laboratory administrators through both written and verbal communication. Identifying spending irregularities, including over-expenditures and under-spending, and providing financial forecasting and expenditure analysis to laboratories. Responding to unobligated balance inquiries from the Office of Sponsored Research and obtaining spending plans from laboratory administrators as needed. Serving as backup support to Grants Analysts. Investigating and verifying faculty payroll and funding transactions upon request from the Payroll Department. Conducting post-award grants management training for new laboratory administrators. Preparing financial status reports and analyses for senior management on an ad hoc basis. Assisting research laboratories with annual budget preparation and supporting the Director of Sponsored Projects Accounting during annual budget meetings for more than 70 research laboratories. Performing ongoing maintenance and administration of the Axiom budgeting system. Supporting special projects and other duties as assigned. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of four years of sponsored projects or post-award accounting experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Demonstrated proficiency in: Oracle Grants Accounting, including award setup and budget entry. Payment Management System (PMS). Preparation of invoices, vouchers, and Federal Financial Reports (FFRs). Strong knowledge of accounting principles related to federal grants and contracts. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with faculty, researchers, and laboratory administrators. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Degree concentration in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Certified Financial Research Administrator (CFRA) designation. The hiring range provided represents The Rockefeller University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
