Senior Technologist

In addition to performing all duties of a Technologist (MT or HT), Medical Laboratory Technician (Anatomic Pathology Support Assistant, where applicable) and a Laboratory Technologist, the Senior Technologist is responsible for complete operation of the Department in conjunction with the Supervisor/AP Laboratory Manager/AP General Specialist. Performs all moderate and highly complex clinical procedures utilizing sophisticated instrumentation to obtain accurate laboratory test results for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Accountable for all tasks and responsibilities as designated by the CLIA rule and/or delegations made as a result (laboratory documentation delineates this specific information). Fulfills the expectation for the completion of all responsibilities as determined by the applicable CLIA role. Duties are performed under the supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor/AP General Specialist, AP Laboratory Manager and Laboratory Administrative Director/Site Laboratory Manager.

Education/Required –

• Clinical Departments (other than Reference): BS/BA & graduation from approved MT School.
• Reference Department: BS/BA
• Histology: BS/BA

Certification/Required –

• Clinical Departments: MT(ASCP) or equivalent certification
• Histology: HT/HTL or equivalent certification

Experience –

• Clinical Departments: >=2 years of experience as an MT required.

Histology: >=2 years of experience in Histology required.
