Working Hours Monday - Thursday 7:00 am – 5:30 pm Friday: 7:00 am – 12:00 pm (rotating schedule with some Fridays off based on doctor schedule) Working hours may vary by office needs. Pay range: $23.00–$27.00 based on experience. About the Role The Surgical Assistant is responsible for ensuring the compassionate, effective, and efficient delivery of high‑quality clinical care for patients while practicing and providing safety in the work environment. The ideal candidate will assist oral surgeons during procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow in a fast‑paced environment. This role requires a strong understanding of surgical procedures, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing high‑quality patient care. Responsibilities Ensure that all patients receive the highest quality of care and service. Communicate with all patients (both in‑person and by phone) in a friendly and professional manner. Maintain positive, pleasant, and professional relationships between patients, staff members, and surgeons. Assist oral surgeons during surgical procedures and prepare instruments, materials, and equipment needed for various surgical procedures. Support efforts that provide a clean and professional environment for all patients, including, but not limited to, ensuring operatories are clean, supplies are adequate, equipment is maintained, and compliance with all company policies is maintained. Monitor patient’s vital signs during surgical procedures and provide support as needed. Assist with postoperative care, including patient education and follow‑up instructions. Document patient encounters and surgical procedures accurately. Foster a collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, efficient workflow, and exceptional patient care. Attend and participate in regular team meetings. Adhere to best practices, established protocols, and highest patient safety standards. Monthly Office Checks (Support) Check crash carts. Check fire extinguishers. Confirm emergency preparedness attestations. Attest to proper procedures. Confirm X‑ray unit calibration. Confirm omni‑cam calibration. Verify drug book accuracy and controlled substance inventory. Ensure oxygen tanks are full and hooked up. Ensure invoices for controlled substances are printed. Ensure proper controlled substance safety protocols are adhered to. Qualifications Education/Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent required (some college preferred). Previous clinical experience. Experience as an oral surgery assistant or dental assistant is preferred (will train the right candidate). Basic life support certification required; employer will provide training if the candidate is not current. Performance Requirements Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently with exceptional initiative and sound judgment. Positive attitude, change advocate, able to lead by example. Strong knowledge of oral surgery procedures. Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities. Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety. Work Environment/Conditions Fast‑paced dental office environment. Overtime sometimes required to perform job functions. Some travel as needed for training and to perform job functions. Safety procedures required, including protection from X‑ray exposure.
