Shift: Day Shift | 7:00 AM – 2:45 PM
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7.75 Hours/Day | 30-Minute Meal Break

Pay Rate

Local: $1,000 - $1,900/week
Traveler: $1,500 - $2,050/week (Based on Experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to provide individualized instruction and educational support to students with disabilities in a multi-category classroom. The teacher will support IEP goals, academic achievement, behavior management, independence, and social-emotional development.

Required Qualifications

• Valid South Carolina teaching certification in Learning Disabilities, Multi-Categorical Special Education, or another appropriate certification
• Knowledge of special education instructional practices and IEP requirements
• Experience with classroom instruction, behavior management, and individualized student support
• Strong classroom and behavior-management skills
• Ability to differentiate instruction based on individual student needs
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organization and documentation skills
• Ability to work effectively with students with varying academic, behavioral, and developmental needs
• Valid driver's license or reliable personal transportation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching students with disabilities
• Self-contained special education classroom experience
• Experience supporting students with emotional disabilities/impairments
• Experience collaborating with teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver individualized instruction based on IEP goals
• Provide instruction in self-contained and/or resource classroom settings
• Adapt curriculum, assignments, instructional materials, and assessments
• Support students with learning and emotional disabilities
• Implement classroom behavior-management strategies
• Monitor academic, behavioral, and social-emotional progress
• Maintain student records, IEP documentation, and progress reports
• Participate in IEP meetings
• Collaborate with general education teachers and multidisciplinary professionals
• Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress
• Maintain a safe, structured, respectful, and supportive classroom
• Guide paraprofessionals and instructional staff
• Support development of student independence, communication, and social skills
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with school policies and special education regulations
• Attend staff meetings and professional development activities

Special Requirements

• May travel between school district buildings and attend professional meetings
• Negative TB test required before employment
• Must comply with applicable school district health and safety requirements
