We are seeking an experienced CAD Drafter with Estimating experience. The ideal candidate is a skilled drafter capable of generating solid 2D design/surface modelling and 3D design/solid modelling drawings for clients using AutoCAD/Revit/SketchUp or similar CAD software. As well as Estimating construction projects with a specialization in metals and miscellaneous metals for projects involving stairs, railings, and fences. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of metal fabrication, installation, and industry pricing.

The ideal candidate is capable of visiting job sites to take accurate measurements using a number of tools such as: measuring wheels, angle locator, outdoor lasers measure, tapes, ruler, laser level, measuring squares, levels.

The ideal candidate possesses superb technical drawing skills, a high level of accuracy, ability to visually communicate concepts, working knowledge of traditional drafting methods, and a great understanding of various designing concepts.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design and development of drawings, plans, schematics, and other documents. This includes primarily stairs and railings drawing layouts, additionally, construction drawings, engineering drawings, architectural drawings, building plans and related documentation.

In this role, teamwork is paramount, you will be required to meet with PMs, architects and/or engineers, Clients, City, and State officials to discuss project cost, estimates prices design concepts for CAD models, develop product designs, and generate Surface or Solid and 3D software models.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating accurate and competitive estimates, managing bid proposals, reaching out to customers, business partners and other entities as well as maintaining and fostering business relationships following the highest standards of ethics and business acumen and collaborating closely with project managers, fabricators, and clients to ensure smooth project execution.

The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, exhibits high standards, has the ability to work in a team, takes initiative, and prioritizes daily tasks. A strong ability to take charge and meet tight deadlines to ensure success in this multi-faceted role.

The ideal candidate has a keen eye for Quality, and ensures the products being manufactured at the facility meet specific standards based on measurements, drawing and designs. The candidate's responsibility is to inspect each piece of equipment, using technical knowledge and tools provided, and meticulously record findings and keep track of production.

Responsibilities

Creating technical 2D design/surface modelling and/or 3D design/solid modelling drawings using Computer-Aided Design software – CAD software.

Collaborating with the Architect, Engineer, and Project Coordinator to schedule job site visits to take accurate measurements.

Working with the design team to develop and maintain accurate, high-quality work in accordance with company and customers standards.

Develop detailed cost estimates for metal and miscellaneous metalwork projects, specifically for stairs, railings, and fences.

Create detailed quality sketches for projects that are not only visually appealing but also functionally attractive.

Research and analyze labor, material, and equipment costs, factoring in current market conditions.

Coordinate all aspects of all tasks (measurements, design, drawing quality control) on time while maintaining accuracy and timeliness.

Obtain and negotiate competitive pricing from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring material and fabrication costs align with the project budget.

Prepare bid packages, respond to bid requests, and ensure timely submission of proposals to clients or general contractors.

Meeting with architects, designers, and engineers to discuss design ideas, presenting rough design drafts for client approval.

Developing product designs from scratch, ensuring designs meet required safety, quality, and structural standards, blending technique and aesthetics to create final designs.

Presenting various design perspectives for construction improvements and adaptations, completing job reports.

Consult with clients and members of the design and construction teams to discuss specifications.

Analyzing requirement documents, blueprints, and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project.

Determining what factors of production will influence the cost of a service or product.

Preparing material estimates and cost estimates for the product or service.

Creating labor estimates for any project.

Developing and maintaining relationships with company vendors and contractors.

Managing bids from vendors and contractors.

Using bid data to prepare a detailed cost analysis.

Presenting prepared estimates to management and other stakeholders.

Compiling and recording actual costs.

Requirements

Previous work experience designing stairs and railings using CAD software.

Extensive knowledge of Revit, SketchUp, AutoCAD and/or other CAD software.

Great knowledge of Microsoft 365, specifically Excel.

Basic knowledge of Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Architecture and Design.

Extensive knowledge of State, County and City safety and structure regulations.

Present design drafts for clients and team members to assess progress and make revisions based on feedback, proof designs for potential errors, and maintain records of all versions created during the design process.

Meet with clients to receive final approval on the design, produce final drafts based on notes from prior meetings.

Excellent technical and communication skills, with a keen eye for aesthetics and detail.

Strong organizational skills, quality assurance, and the ability to project manage.

Ability to think in a three-dimensional manner.

Remain up to date on all modern advancements in material and software technologies.

Clear understanding of manufacturing, construction, and a sound knowledge of engineering design principles, as well as great problem-solving skills.

Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, and specifications.
