Customer Service Representative (Part-time)

SUMMARY Under the general supervision of the Branch Manager, performs a variety of customer service and related duties to meet sales and service objectives and ensure the ongoing effectiveness of customer service in conformance with established Bank policies, strategies, and procedures. This is a part‑time position requiring 25‑30 hours per week. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Greet customers cordially and professionally and provide efficient, effective, and courteous customer service in person and via telephone. Open and close accounts and process a wide variety of transactions, including necessary paperwork, and respond to customer inquiries. Understand, explain, and cross‑sell products and services such as checking and savings accounts, certificates of deposit, IRAs, loans, credit cards, debit cards, and digital services. Maintain current knowledge of all bank products and services. Perform teller duties as required and process all necessary transactions, issuing receipts accordingly. Investigate and correct errors using bank and customer records. Admit customers to the safe deposit box vault area, open and surrender safe deposit boxes as requested. Forward passbook loan information and line‑of‑credit (CheckProtec) applications to appropriate personnel for underwriting and approval. Execute wire transfers and process credit card applications. Assist customers with check inquiries, including status searches, copies of cleared checks, stop payments, and reissues. Assist with IRA transactions, including trustee transfers, direct rollovers, and contributions/distributions. Serve as backup to the Front Desk Coordinator as needed. Maintain and encourage an ongoing sales culture within the branch. Perform clerical duties, including pending work and daily mail. Use Microsoft Word and Excel proficiently and write professional, clear, concise correspondence. Participate in the consolidation of daily teller work and balancing of the ATM. Generate referrals to other bank areas, such as Investment Center, Wealth & Asset Management, Residential & Commercial Lending, and Business Banking Services. Actively participate in the Your Bank Rewards Referral Program. Attend sales, service, and product training sessions regularly and participate in branch meetings. Adhere to the bank’s dress code policy. Participate in community activities representing Dedham Savings. Perform all duties in compliance with regulatory, security, cash‑handling, audit, and privacy policies, including annual training on Regulation CC, AML/BSA, and GLB/Privacy. Assist in ensuring the branch meets yearly goals and complete all internal bank training as required. Embrace and enhance the bank culture. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Minimum of one year of customer service or teller experience. Demonstrated communication, customer service, and organizational skills. Basic knowledge of bank products and services. Ability to use office equipment and computer terminals. Knowledge of and ability to read safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence. Effective verbal communication skills. Ability to calculate figures and percentages. Ability to use common‑sense instructions in written, oral, or diagram form. Problem‑solving skills in standardized situations. Proficiency with internet, spreadsheet, word processing, and service bureau software. Skills Basic knowledge of banking laws and regulations. Willingness to learn new knowledge and technical skills. Intermediate typing skills. Intermediate math skills relevant to banking operations. Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Physical Demands Requires sitting, talking, occasional standing and walking. Occasional lifting or moving of up to 10 pounds. Close vision required. Work Environment Moderate noise level typical of a banking branch. Pay Range Disclosure The pay range for this position is $21.90 to $24.30 per hour. The Bank may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.
