Job Title: RN - Emergency Department Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of ED RN experience, Level I experience preferred License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, NIHSS, EKG competency exam required; national certification in emergency nursing preferred but not required Must-Have: - Level 1 Trauma - Emergency room nursing experience - Drip experience including Heparin, Insulin, Cardene, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Fentanyl, Propofol, Levophed Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department. The unit has a total of 61 beds plus surge beds. The average census of the unit is 61+. Patient types and common diagnoses include chest pain, strokes, diabetes, abdominal pain, motor vehicle collisions, hypertension, stabbings, and mental health issues. Patient ratios are typically RN to patient being 1:4, depending on the assigned zone. Support within the department includes CNAs, receptionists, charge nurses, phlebotomy staff, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, intensivists, and telemetry monitoring/technicians. The nursing staff is supported by a designated transport team for patient movements. The unit utilizes advanced technology including EMR, IV pumps, medication dispensing systems, cardiac telemetry monitoring, and various equipment for vital signs and glucose checks. Floating within the emergency department is possible, and there may be the potential to float to a nearby location. The working environment is busy, but team collaboration is emphasized. The scrub color for RNs is navy and for LPNs is ceil blue. Free parking is available around the campus.
