Schedule: 7 nights on / 7 nights off

Atrium Health Cleveland is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician I to perform laboratory testing and analysis on patient specimens. The technician will provide accurate and timely laboratory results to support the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical proficiency, attention to detail, sound judgment, and a strong commitment to laboratory quality assurance, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.

• Perform laboratory analyses on received specimens to support patient diagnosis and treatment.

• Follow established laboratory testing procedures, policies, and quality assurance guidelines.

• Monitor equipment and work areas, document corrective actions, and report nonconforming events.

• Prepare reagents and maintain adequate supplies for laboratory testing.

• Manage laboratory inventory to minimize waste and control expenses.

• Troubleshoot laboratory testing systems and coordinate with technical support when necessary.

• Assist with reviewing and updating laboratory procedures and accreditation documentation.

• Follow applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements, including CAP, The Joint Commission (TJC), and OSHA standards.

• Communicate laboratory issues, operational concerns, and patient-care considerations to leadership and incoming shifts.

• Participate in staff meetings, projects, task forces, and process improvement initiatives.

• Maintain a safe laboratory environment when working with biological specimens, chemicals, and laboratory equipment.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Associate degree or equivalent education and training as defined by CLIA.

• Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) registry eligibility or equivalent qualification.

• ASCP certification or equivalent MLT certification required within one year of hire , according to the job description.

• Certification through an accredited U.S. military medical laboratory training program is accepted, as specified in the source.

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow laboratory procedures and quality standards.

• Ability to communicate effectively with laboratory colleagues and leadership.

• Fast-paced clinical laboratory environment.

• Exposure to potentially infectious or biohazardous materials, chemicals, and other laboratory hazards.

• Ability to stand, walk, stretch, stoop, and bend as required.

• Ability to lift loads ranging from approximately 20 to 50 pounds.

• Third-shift night position.

• Seven consecutive nights on duty, followed by seven nights off.
