Tools Design Engineer

Overview Akkodis is seeking a Die and Tool Design Engineer for a Contract job with a client in Dearborn, MI. The ideal candidate should have 5+ years of experience in Tool design. Rate Range: $43/hour to $45/hour; the rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. Responsibilities Support machining operations through tooling development, implementation, and optimization to achieve launch and production objectives. Collaborate with launch teams and suppliers to ensure successful delivery of machining lines, tools, and manufacturing processes. Lead process improvements focused on safety, quality, productivity, variability reduction, and lean manufacturing principles. Develop and maintain PPAP documentation, process audits, work instructions, and quality control methodologies. Investigate manufacturing issues, drive corrective actions, and ensure compliance with Powertrain, corporate, and regulatory standards. Deliver robust machining processes and tooling solutions while supporting ISO 14001 requirements and continuous operational excellence initiatives. Desired Qualifications 5+ years of experience in tooling, tool design, machining operations, and manufacturing process improvement within high-production environments. Strong knowledge of CNC machining, tooling systems, problem-solving methodologies, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, FMEA, PPAP, DOE, gear blade grinding, and tool presetter programming (Royal/Zoller) preferred. Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and communication skills with the ability to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred.
