Certified Veterinary Technician

Overview Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) position at Multnomah County Animal Services (MCAS). The role involves providing high‑quality animal care, performing spay/neuter procedures, handling high‑stress situations, and supporting community animal welfare. Responsibilities Perform health exams, treatment plans, and diagnostic procedures for a variety of pets. Provide care and comfort to stray, abandoned, and lost animals. Collaborate with colleagues on suspected abuse or neglect cases and special animal intake protocols. Assist with wildlife handling, humane euthanasia, and low‑stress local wildlife procedures. Diagnose and treat unusual medical conditions in partnership with veterinarians. Administer high‑quality spay and neuter surgeries. Provide neonatal care for diverse species. Qualifications Associate degree or equivalent experience. Minimum six months of animal health experience. Certified Veterinary Technician certificate from the Oregon Veterinary Medical Board. Euthanasia Technician certificate (or ability to obtain within six months). Preferred Qualifications Two years of CVT experience in a practice or one year in a shelter. Experience handling high‑stress situations. Experience with spay/neuter surgeries. Experience in shelter population health. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
