Cost Estimator

Freese and Nichols is seeking an Estimator to join our Program Management team in Houston, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, or Pearland, Texas. As Estimator, you will support project teams with cost estimating across multiple projects and stages of the project lifecycle, helping develop reliable budgets, detailed estimates, and cost analyses for a variety of infrastructure programs.What You’ll DoAssist with estimating all elements of project cost including labor, materials, permanent equipment, supplies, consumables, expenses, construction equipment rental and operating costs, contingency, escalation, and program riskSupport multiple projects and project teams at the same time across various project phases from inception through close-outUse industry resources such as cost databases, software systems, and standards to develop completed estimatesAssist Lead Estimator with developing standard cost estimating processes companywideCoordinate with construction management support resources across the company to complete estimatesWork with Project Managers and other disciplines to evaluate budget appropriateness and prepare or coordinate full project estimatesAssist with estimates for conceptual, schematic design, design development, and construction documents phasesPrepare detailed cost estimates, material, equipment, and labor take-offs, and cost comparison analyses using accepted industry methodsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction, or a related field, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationAbility to read and interpret drawings, specifications, Requests for Proposals, and contractsAbility to assist with order-of-magnitude, preliminary, definitive, change order, and check estimates using appropriate methods and techniquesAbility to use company and industry historical data to support cost estimatesAbility to maintain consistent communication with other estimatorsPreferredExperience in mechanical and electrical estimatingKnowledge of various cost estimating softwareKnowledge of Microsoft ProjectKnowledge of PrimaveraAbility to support cost database maintenanceAbility to contribute across estimating disciplines including facilities, transportation, water/wastewater, heavy civil, and structuralAbout Freese and NicholsAt the heart of our culture is our LEADS values (Learn continuously, Engage as family, Act with integrity, Deliver quality, and Serve always).
