The Network Behavior Coach works collaboratively with middle school administrators, teachers, counselors, school social workers, student support teams, and families to strengthen school climate, improve student behavior, increase engagement, reduce disciplinary incidents, and support positive academic and social-emotional outcomes. This position supports multiple schools within a designated middle school network and does not maintain a traditional school-based caseload. The Network Behavior Coach utilizes student behavior, attendance, and engagement data to identify trends, provide targeted interventions, coach school teams, and develop systems that promote positive student behavior and a safe, supportive learning environment. The Network Behavior Coach reports to the appropriate Assistant Superintendent or designee. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Network-Wide Behavior Support and Intervention Support the implementation and continuous improvement of PBIS frameworks across all middle schools within the network. Collaborate with school-based MTSS teams to identify students requiring Tier II and Tier III behavioral interventions. Analyze discipline, attendance, engagement, and academic data to identify trends and students in need of additional support. Provide direct behavioral coaching and intervention services for students exhibiting behavioral, social-emotional, or engagement challenges. Facilitate small-group interventions focused on self-regulation, conflict resolution, decision‑making, peer relationships, and school engagement. Assist schools in implementing evidence‑based behavior intervention strategies and behavior support plans. Support the use of restorative practices to address student conflicts, repair relationships, and reduce exclusionary discipline. Develop and monitor behavior goals and intervention plans for identified students. Maintain documentation and progress monitoring records related to student interventions and outcomes. Middle School Student Success Responsibilities Support students demonstrating early warning indicators, including behavioral referrals, chronic absenteeism, disengagement, and declining academic performance. Assist schools in reducing office referrals, suspensions, chronic absenteeism, and repeat behavioral incidents. Provide targeted support to students experiencing difficulties transitioning between grade levels or schools. Promote student leadership, self‑advocacy, resilience, and positive school connectedness. Support students in developing behavioral, social‑emotional, and executive functioning skills necessary for success in middle school and beyond. Collaborate with families to address barriers impacting student behavior, attendance, and engagement. PBIS and MTSS Leadership Responsibilities Serve as a resource and coach to school leadership teams regarding PBIS and MTSS implementation. Assist schools in developing and refining Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III behavioral support systems. Facilitate data reviews with school teams to identify behavioral trends and determine intervention needs. Support fidelity of PBIS implementation and continuous improvement planning. Assist schools in creating positive school culture initiatives and recognition systems that reinforce expected behaviors. Provide training and professional development related to behavior supports, classroom management, restorative practices, and student engagement strategies. Collaboration and Family Engagement Serve as a liaison between schools, families, community organizations, and district departments to coordinate behavioral supports and resources. Partner with counselors, school social workers, psychologists, administrators, and community agencies to provide comprehensive support for students. Facilitate family meetings and student support conferences as needed. Connect students and families to community‑based behavioral health services, mentoring programs, and other support resources. Data and Accountability Responsibilities Utilize district data systems to monitor behavioral outcomes, attendance trends, intervention effectiveness, and school climate indicators. Develop and maintain network‑wide behavior dashboards and progress monitoring systems. Identify trends and recommend strategic interventions to improve student behavior and engagement. Establish measurable goals related to discipline reduction, attendance improvement, PBIS implementation, and student engagement. Prepare reports and provide updates to network leadership regarding outcomes and areas for improvement. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Behavioral Science, or a related field. Minimum of three years of successful experience working with middle school students. Demonstrated knowledge of PBIS, MTSS, restorative practices, and behavior intervention strategies. Experience working with students exhibiting behavioral and social‑emotional challenges. Ability to analyze student data and develop intervention plans. Preferred Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, School Psychology, Educational Leadership, or related field. Experience serving on PBIS or MTSS leadership teams. Experience providing behavioral coaching across multiple schools. Experience working in urban educational settings. Experience facilitating professional development and adult learning. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of PBIS, MTSS, restorative practices, and positive behavior supports. Understanding of adolescent development and middle school student needs. Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and school staff. Strong communication, facilitation, coaching, and collaboration skills. Ability to use behavioral and attendance data to identify needs and monitor progress. Ability to manage multiple priorities across several schools. Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills. Commitment to equity, student success, and creating inclusive learning environments. Ability to support schools in developing systems that promote positive behavior, engagement, and academic success.
