CookThe Memorial Union Kitchen is looking for a cook to join our team. This position will support other Cooks and Food Service Supervisors with general kitchen tasks. Previous food preparation experience required. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their culinary skills.Job Duties:Perform routine food preparation for various campus events hosted at Memorial Union (catered events and food prep for retail sales)Focus on cold food preparation such as sandwiches and salads; similar to a garde manger positionPhysical Demands:Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, and push/pull up to 500 poundsAbility to stand and walk for the duration of your shiftAbility to work in cold and hot environmentsWork Schedule:Work hours will be Tuesdays through Saturdays; 10:00am - 6:00pmSchedule may be adjusted to meet business needsOvertime may be needed as business volume fluctuatesKey Job Responsibilities:Adheres to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and proceduresPerforms routine and non-routine food preparation activities including cook to order and specialty foodsCleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areasGreets customers, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation and associated activitiesTrains and guides student workersDepartment: Wisconsin Union, Dining & Hospitality, Memorial Union CulinaryCompensation: The salary for this position is $20.50 per hour.
