About the Role
The Company is in need of a Senior Counsel to join its legal and compliance team. This role is pivotal in providing legal support for various business activities, including commercial contracts, corporate governance, employment, regulatory, and compliance matters. The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of agreements, both domestic and cross-border, and will also be involved in the development of company policies, governance processes, and internal controls. Additionally, the Senior Counsel will advise on disputes, manage external counsel, and lead legal due diligence for transactions. Applicants for the Senior Counsel position at the company should have a JD from an ABA-accredited law school, be licensed to practice law in Illinois, and have at least 5 years of relevant legal experience, with a focus on transactional work. Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills are essential, as is the ability to provide clear, practical, and risk-based legal advice. The role requires a candidate who is adept at managing multiple priorities, has strong interpersonal skills, and is proficient in Microsoft 365. Experience in areas such as wind turbine supply agreements, dispute resolution, and international trade is a plus. The Senior Counsel will also be expected to stay abreast of legal and regulatory developments and to undertake special projects as needed.
