Respite Provider

Our Respite Program offers specialized childcare to children with special needs and their siblings, providing parents and guardians with a break from the daily stress of caring for their child’s needs. To ensure success as a respite worker, it is essential to demonstrate experience in a similar role and working in the special education sector. Ultimately, a top-notch respite worker will be someone who can be relied upon to perform their duties with patience and compassion. Respite visits are conducted in the client’s homes or an agreed-upon location. Interested persons with the following backgrounds are perfect candidates for this position: Registered Behavior Technicians, Occupational and Physical Therapist Assistants, Speech Language Pathologist Assistants, ESE Aides, or Teachers preferred. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED 2 years’ experience in special education preferred. Position Requirements Willing to work evenings and weekends Responsibilities Develop and implement activities to assure the safety and well-being of each child. Provide personal care that may be required, like feeding, dressing, toileting, bathing, Initiate, motivate, and supervise activities that will enrich the child’s experience during respite care. Build positive relationships with clients and their families while respecting their confidentiality. Maintain the family’s home in the condition it was found. Be prompt in all assignments. Effectively and clearly communicate with parents about care provided and report any concerns or problems, Complete all required paperwork and documentation, per visit. Compile and submit by last day of the month. Comply with Easterseals policies and procedures utilizing the highest standards of personal and professional ethics and behavior. Demonstrate good judgment, diplomacy, courtesy. and effective communication while working at Easterseals or when representing the organization. Other duties as assigned.
