Pharmacy Technician Entry LevelJob Title: Pharmacy TechnicianDepartment: PharmacyImmediate Supervisor Title: Pharmacist In ChargeJob Supervisory Responsibilities: NoneGeneral Summary: The Pharmacy Technician supports the pharmacist in ensuring the maintenance of efficient pharmacy operations, customer satisfaction and loyalty, and regulatory compliance. In addition to any responsibilities, otherwise outlined in the job description or elsewhere, the pharmacy technician has responsibility for complying with rules governing the role of a pharmacy technician as issued by the state of Ohio or the State Board of Pharmacy. Pharmacy Technicians complete Shriver's Pharmacy's training program and become a Qualified Pharmacy Technician upon successful completion of the training program.Essential Job Responsibilities:Basic knowledge of RX 30 pharmacy computer system including: refills, profiles, workflow, courier manifests, refill reportsKnowledge of register transactions to include: cash, check, charge, house charge, account balancesGeneral knowledge of current phone system and office machinesIn depth knowledge of current HIPPA guidelinesGeneral knowledge of acceptable medical abbreviationsGeneral knowledge of DME availableGeneral knowledge of brand vs. generic drugsKnowledge of information needed to properly complete an intake formKnowledge of auto refill system and website refillsDemonstrate proper use and maintenance of pill counting machinesKnowledge of "Promise Time", how this worksKnowledge of proper filing of prescription "hard copies"Knowledge of daily functions to include: medication sign out, restocking of medication vials and suppliesPerform other duties as assigned by managementEducation: High School graduate or equivalent (This position has required continuing education of 1 unit bi-monthly. These courses will be taken at the expense of the employer and will be outlined for employee in the training manual and/or employee handbook).Experience: One year Pharmacy Technician experience preferred.Other Requirements: Be able to pass a FBI/BCI background check.Performance Requirements:Knowledge:Knowledge of organization services available to customersKnowledge of product location within the store to be able to direct customersKnowledge of phone system, especially calls for refills and new prescriptionsKnowledge of Rx orders and ability to interpret these orders, verify doses, and be preciseSkills:Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skillsAbility to learn the proper use of mechanical equipment utilized in this positionAbility to talk with other healthcare professionals in a professional, businesslike mannerAbilities:To handle stressful situations in a professional mannerAbility to work in a fast-paced environment for extended periods of timeAbility to adapt to changeAbility to meet continuing education requirementsEquipment Operated: Pill counting machines, computers, standard retail machines to include POS system, telephones, copy machines, fax machinesWork Environment: This position is in a fast-paced, retail pharmacy environment.
