This is a key accounting position for an experienced professional who understands accrual accounting and the financial complexities of a project-based business. We are looking for more than a transactional accountant—we want someone who can connect the accounting records to what is actually happening within our projects and who wants to understand what is happening behind the numbers . The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accrual accounting and general accounting principles , along with experience across the full accounting cycle. Experience in construction, contracting, equipment installation, or another project-based business is strongly preferred , particularly experience with Work-in-Progress (WIP) analysis and job cost accounting . WHAT YOU'LL DO Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close Prepare journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations Maintain accruals, prepaid expenses, and balance sheet schedules Prepare, maintain, and analyze WIP schedules Analyze job costs, project profitability, margins, cost-to-complete, and over/under billings Work directly with Project Managers to maintain accurate project forecasts and financial information Support project revenue recognition and financial reporting Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, customer billing, and collections Review project costs, change orders, commitments, and other financial activity Prepare financial reports and analysis to support management decision-making Assist with budgeting, forecasting, audits, and year-end activities Help strengthen accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting as Harding continues to grow WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of progressive accounting experience preferred Strong knowledge of accrual-based accounting Experience with month-end close, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial statements Construction or project-based accounting experience strongly preferred Hands-on WIP and job cost accounting experience strongly preferred Strong Microsoft Excel skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Comfortable working directly with Project Managers and company leadership Someone who takes ownership, asks questions, identifies problems, and brings forward solutions THE PERSON WHO WILL SUCCEED AT HARDING Technical accounting knowledge matters, but how you approach your work matters just as much.
