Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room / Surgical Center (Pre-Op)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 8-hour or 10-hour shifts (6:00 AM–2:00 PM, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, or 9:00 AM–5:00 PM) | Rotating weekend requirement (8-hour, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, Saturday or Sunday) | On-call: 1–2 second calls per scheduling period, including one 24-hour weekend call (7:00 AM–7:00 AM Saturday or Sunday) | 30-minute call response time required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide pre-operative nursing care within a hospital-based surgical center (not a freestanding facility), supporting a high-volume environment of 55–70 cases per day across 15 suites
• Care for patients undergoing all procedure types, including same-day and overnight stays
• Perform and maintain strong IV insertion and management skills throughout the pre-op process
• Apply surgical care knowledge, including familiarity with robotic-assisted procedures
• Float to the OR holding area as needed
• Document patient care using the current EMR system (Sunrise); transition to Epic anticipated

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered RN license (any licensing history or hits must be disclosed at time of submission)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – current and unexpired
• Strong IV skills – required
• Surgical care knowledge, including robotics experience
• A copy of a valid, unexpired driver's license must be submitted with application
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a pre-operative or perioperative nursing role
• Familiarity with robotic surgical platforms
• Experience with Epic EMR or willingness to adapt to system transition
