Deputy Project Manager

CBRE Government Defense & Services Engineering Solutions (“ENGS”), a Strategic Business Unit, provides renovation services for the Department of Defense (DoD) and Defense Health Agency (DHA) while preserving facility occupancy, especially in healthcare. The core work is performed as a prime contractor for NAVFAC Far East. Job Details The Deputy Project Manager (DPM) reports to the Project Manager (PM) and manages a team of site supervisors. The DPM is second in command of the NAVFAC IDIQ DB/DBB MACC Contract for Naval Support Facility, Diego Garcia, overseeing project activities and acting on behalf of the PM in the PM’s absence. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Primary responsibility for project budgets. Develop scope of work for subcontracts, negotiate, and manage subcontractors. Oversee project lifecycle from solicitation to closeout and final payment. Ensure site staff have authority and resources. Train, manage, hold accountably site staff, conduct performance evaluations under PM guidance. Lead and coordinate design efforts with consultants and in‑house employees; ensure design milestone compliance. Coordinate repair/renewal efforts via subordinate staff for timely, quality delivery. Create and manage cost‑loaded schedules (Microsoft Project or Oracle Primavera P6) and maintain records in Procore and eCMS. Oversee project submittals and maintain register(s). Review and approve project‑specific plans (QCP, PSQCP, APP, AHA, etc.) and manage submission process. Act as temporary site supervisory role if needed. Provide priority guidance and problem‑solving support to supervisory staff. Perform remote and onsite audits of documentation and workmanship; generate action plans. Collaborate with PM to continuously improve safety, quality, efficiency, and profitability. Foster professional development and succession planning. Support Business Development (BD) for strategic growth. Other duties as assigned. Required Experience Graduate of a 4‑ or 5‑year accredited college/university in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Building Construction, or Building Science. At least 10 years managing a portfolio of construction projects of similar type. Minimum 5 years of experience managing projects ≥$1 M. OCONUS project management experience, preference for Asia, Pacific Region, or Diego Garcia. Demonstrated Ability To Maintain project schedules and budgets through successful closeouts. Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously. Lead proposal development for Task Order RFPs. Lead a team of construction professionals and serve as the company face to the customer. Troubleshoot contracting and subcontracting issues. Negotiate with subcontractors. Manage project budgets. Software Proficiency Procore Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive) Physical, Environmental, and Sensory Requirements Work in office areas and construction job sites. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking; occasional bending, reaching, lifting in office, and safe outdoor walking. Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds.
