Emergency Veterinarian - Ethos ER Immerse Mentorship Program - Fort Wayne, IN

Position Overview Northeast Indiana Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (NIVES) is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Emergency Veterinarian Mentee to join our collaborative, team‑focused hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The role is part of a 6‑month training and mentorship program designed to prepare veterinarians for a sustainable career in emergency medicine. Hospital Resources and Support Accredited Level II Critical Care facility with advanced equipment including CT scan, digital radiology, echocardiogram, ultrasound, endoscopy, and high‑flow oxygen. Dedicated 12‑doctor emergency team and board‑certified specialists in surgery, critical care, cardiology, and internal medicine. In‑house blood donor program and on‑site social worker to support team members and clients. Teaching and mentorship culture with daily case rounds and collaboration among specialists and technicians. Program Highlights & Responsibilities 5‑day work week: 4 clinical days, 1 didactic day, and 2 days off each week. Paired with a specific mentor; same schedule for first 3 months. Allowed to transition to swings after month 3; no overnights until approved by mentor and hospital leadership. Clinical responsibilities include participation in emergency rounds, case discussion, and hands‑on care under board‑certified specialists. Surgical training with board‑certified surgeons. Competency‑based curriculum including asynchronous learning on Vetbloom and weekly live virtual didactic rounds. Regular live continuing education events led by specialists and experienced emergency doctors. Program Duration & Commitment 6‑month training program beginning June 2026. 1‑year commitment as an ER clinician following training. Qualifications & Expectations Fellow or graduating veterinary student with strong academic record. Team oriented, driven, reflective, and reliable.
