RN OR Circulator Nurse Full Time 10hrs

MLK Community Hospital is seeking a dedicated RN OR Circulator Nurse for a full-time 10‑hour shift role supporting our modern operating rooms in South Los Angeles. As a Circulating Nurse, you will play a central role in delivering safe, high-quality perioperative care to a diverse, often underserved patient population. You will work closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and perioperative team members to coordinate all aspects of care before, during, and immediately after surgery, ensuring that every patient receives culturally competent, respectful, and compassionate treatment. In this position, you are the patient’s primary advocate in the operating room. You will conduct thorough preoperative assessments, verify consents, allergies, and histories, and help prepare patients physically and emotionally for surgery. During procedures, you will manage the overall environment of the OR: monitoring patient status, maintaining aseptic technique, coordinating instrumentation and supplies, and supporting the surgical and anesthesia teams so they can focus on safe, efficient procedures. You will lead and document required safety checks and surgical time‑outs, monitor for potential complications, and respond rapidly to changes in condition or emergencies, always prioritizing patient safety and dignity. Your responsibilities will also include accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record, medication administration and IV therapy within scope, meticulous handling and tracking of specimens, and close collaboration with the post‑anesthesia care team to promote smooth transitions of care. You will participate in quality improvement efforts, infection prevention initiatives, and the ongoing refinement of OR workflows that elevate patient outcomes and support our mission as a nonprofit safety‑net hospital.
