What we are looking for Structured Design and Consulting is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to serve as a technical leader for our growing engineering team in Dublin, Ohio. This position is ideal for a Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in Ohio with experience in structural engineering, construction engineering, or heavy civil construction. The successful candidate will serve as a technical leader within the organization, driving engineering excellence, mentoring staff, and supporting the company's continued growth. The Engineering Lead will have a significant voice in defining how we deliver projects, develop our people, expand our services, and position SDC for long‑term success. The successful candidate will play a critical role in establishing engineering standards, solving complex technical challenges, and supporting strategic business growth initiatives across the organization. Responsibilities Technical Leadership Serve as the technical subject matter expert for structural and construction engineering projects. Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to engineers, designers, and technical staff. Review, approve, and seal engineering calculations, reports, drawings, and design packages as required. Ensure all engineering work complies with applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices. Lead technical problem‑solving efforts on complex engineering challenges. Project Delivery Lead and oversee engineering projects from concept through completion. Perform structural analysis and design for buildings, temporary structures, and other structural systems using industry‑standard software and methodologies. Prepare and review structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports. Collaborate with architects, contractors, owners, and other stakeholders to develop innovative and cost‑effective solutions. Conduct site visits and inspections to assess existing structures and provide recommendations for repairs, modifications, or construction means and methods. Review and approve shop drawings and construction submittals. Process & Quality Assist in developing and continuously improving company engineering standards, processes, and quality control procedures. Help establish systems and workflows designed to: Maximize operational efficiency. Minimize design errors and omissions. Maintain exceptional client satisfaction. Support the ongoing development of standards for specialized design services, including: Falsework plans Bridge beam jacking plans Business Growth Collaborate with leadership to identify and develop new service offerings and revenue streams. Support business development efforts by providing technical expertise during proposal development and client meetings. Assist in expanding SDC's presence in markets such as: Commercial and industrial structural engineering Support expansion into additional markets and service lines aligned with the team's technical strengths and client needs Client Relations Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and industry partners. Participate in project meetings and communicate effectively with clients and team members. Help ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within scope, and to the highest quality standards. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, or a related engineering discipline required. Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Ohio is required. Minimum of 5 years of structural, construction, or heavy civil engineering experience in a consulting, contractor, or owner environment. Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, mentor others, or serve as a technical resource on engineering projects. Experience with temporary structures, construction engineering, or heavy civil construction is strongly preferred. Proficiency with structural analysis and design software is preferred. Strong understanding of or ability to quickly learn applicable codes and standards, including: ASCE‑7 IBC AISC ACI Experience designing steel, concrete, and retaining structures is preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Hybrid work environment with flexible scheduling consistent with company policy. Periodic travel and on‑site inspections are required. Mileage reimbursement is provided at current IRS rates. Employees using personal vehicles for company business must maintain appropriate automobile insurance coverage. What We Provide Competitive salary ranging from $120,000 to $185,000 annually, commensurate with experience, licensure, and qualifications.
