Utility Locate Technician - Level 1

Job Description Job Description Job Title: Job Title: Utility Locate Technician – Level 1 Job Summary: As a Utility Locate Technician Level 1, you will be responsible for the accurate, safe, and efficient locating and marking of underground utilities. This role plays a critical part in preventing damage to infrastructure and ensuring the safety of excavation and construction activities. You will be expected to maintain a high standard of quality and precision so that clients and contractors can operate with full confidence in the location of underground utility lines. Key Responsibilities: Perform field work to locate and mark underground utilities using specialized equipment Ensure all locates are completed safely, accurately, and in compliance with company and industry standards Read and interpret utility maps, drawings, and work orders Communicate clearly with contractors, clients, and team members regarding utility locations Maintain detailed and accurate records of completed work Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while working in various environments Training and Development: You will receive comprehensive training from Central Florida Locating, Inc., including hands-on instruction in the use of the latest utility locating technology and equipment. Ongoing support will be provided to ensure continued skill development and job proficiency. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (preferred) Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions Good communication and problem-solving skills Clean driving record and a valid driver’s license Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening Work Environment: Primarily field-based work in outdoor settings May involve walking long distances, standing for extended periods, and lifting equipment Exposure to varying weather and terrain conditions Why This Role Matters: Your work directly contributes to public safety, infrastructure protection, and the successful completion of construction and excavation projects.
