Chief Clinical Enterprise Operations

Chief Clinical Enterprise Operations (CCEO) is a strategic, operational, and cultural leadership role for the client. The CCEO works jointly with the Chief, Clinical Enterprise (CCE) and Chief Nursing Executive (CNE) to help deliver safe, high-quality, cost-effective, patient-centered care across the care continuum. The role translates clinical priorities into operational execution, supporting the client’s position as a trusted healthcare system for patients, families, and communities. The CCEO leads systemwide clinical operations with an emphasis on high reliability, patient safety, and strong outcomes. Responsibilities include aligning operational performance with the client’s strategic and workforce and margin improvement initiatives; championing value-based care models to reduce variation and optimize quality, safety, and efficiency; and driving operational readiness for emerging technologies such as AI, virtual care, remote monitoring, robotics, and precision medicine. The role also supports disaster readiness and system resilience to maintain continuity of care during disruptions, and co-leads enterprise initiatives that affect clinical practice, workforce development, and operational performance across acute care, ambulatory, and physician settings. The CCEO oversees performance and financial stewardship by optimizing throughput, capacity, and service line operations to meet demand, enhance access, and support growth. The role leads service line and market efforts to achieve margin improvement and sustainability targets and uses data, analytics, and predictive modeling to drive system-level dashboards and rapid-cycle improvements while embedding operational excellence through standardization and accountability. The CCEO builds a resilient, engaged workforce by addressing staffing challenges with workforce models and pipeline development, strengthens leadership capability and culture, advances diversity, equity, and inclusion, and mentors operational leaders; additionally, the role may forge partnerships that support community health and population health outcomes while reinforcing the client’s reputation through patient experience, quality, and community impact.
