Mainframe Support Lead

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We require formal training or certification in technology support concepts, plus 5+ years of practical experience.
• We need 8+ years of experience operating and managing IBM z-Series environments.
• We are looking for proven leadership of operational and site reliability engineering teams in a 24x7 support setting, including people management.
• We expect a strong understanding of infrastructure architecture, including servers, storage, networking, databases, and application components.
• We require extensive knowledge of replication technologies such as IBM CSM and GDPS.
• We need expertise in administering z-Series and Hardware Management Console systems, including firmware and microcode upgrades.
• We require a solid understanding of security standards, including working knowledge of SSH, transaction-based systems, IMS, CICS, DB2, and WebSphere.
• We need experience managing ServiceNow workflows, tickets, and resolutions in a global 24x7 environment, along with strong incident, problem, and change management expertise.
• We require the ability to troubleshoot priority incidents, facilitate blameless post-mortems, and drive permanent incident closure.
• We expect demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities in production operations workflows, with disciplined validation habits and sensitivity to data handling.
• We need the ability to review and confirm AI-assisted incident recommendations before taking action, escalating when uncertain, and ensuring outcomes meet operational, security, and auditability standards.
• Preferred: working knowledge of one or more general-purpose programming languages and/or automation scripting, with practical Python experience.
• Preferred: knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering principles, including designing, coding, testing, and delivering automation to reduce manual operational work.
• Preferred: familiarity with batch scheduling tools such as CA-7, Control-M, and Zeke, plus strong working knowledge of JCL.
• Preferred: experience supporting Netcool in a large-scale environment.
• Preferred: demonstrated ability to collaborate with IBM z-Series engineering and build teams on architecture, development, stability, and continuous improvement.

• We lead teams of technologists delivering end-to-end application or infrastructure services that support firm operations.
• We execute policies and procedures that maintain operational stability and availability in a 24x7 production environment.
• We monitor production environments for anomalies, resolve issues, and improve the use of standard observability tools.
• We escalate and communicate issues and solutions to business and technology stakeholders, from incident resolution through service restoration.
• We lead incident, problem, and change management for full-stack technology systems, applications, and infrastructure.
• We host and facilitate bridge calls, communicating effectively with large groups across all levels of the organization.
• We administer and troubleshoot mainframe-related components to maintain continuous operational health and performance.
• We lead adoption of enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to improve incident triage speed and consistency, with human review and appropriate handling of sensitive data.
• We apply reuse-first, AI-assisted practices across incident, problem, and change routines to identify recurring patterns and validate remediation aligned with resiliency and security expectations.
