The current vacancy is in the Public Works – Engineering and Construction Services Department. The internal Teamster eligibility list will be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification, for up to one hundred and eighty (180) days. Non-probationary Teamster team members successfully completing the selection process will be placed on the internal Teamster eligibility list. All other team members including part-time/temporary employees along with external candidates may apply for this recruitment. These individuals may be considered after the appropriate recruitment process of the collective bargaining agreement has been followed. They are capable of preparing project designs, cost estimates, specifications, and bid packages for a variety of public works projects with guidance from a Senior Engineer. They collaborate effectively with City staff, architects, and engineers, providing technical oversight and management of projects. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a related field.Two (2) or more years of progressively complex and responsible related work experience with knowledge and familiarity in the theories and principals for application to practical problems and solutions.Licenses and CertificationsMust possess a valid Nevada state driver's license, or have the ability to obtain, and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.Possession of State of Nevada Registered Engineer Certificate. If licensed in another state, registration in the state of Nevada within one (1) year of hire/reclassificationPrefer Professional Traffic Operations Engineer certification (Traffic Option Only)SELECTION PROCESSComplete Online Application – Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City's application system. The personnel file review includes a current employment status check (probationary/qualifying periods), and a review of active discipline and most recent performance evaluation. Employees with a rating that does not meet minimum standards may be disqualified from this recruitment process.Oral Board Interview (Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%):Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.Selection/Offers -Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview.
