Work Environment

This role is based onsite at our hospital facility in Fresno, where you will collaborate closely with physical therapists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals. You'll be part of an interdisciplinary team that values open communication and shared goals. The clinic operates on a Monday to Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility required to meet patient needs and clinic operations. Key Responsibilities

• Administer direct physical therapy interventions under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist, adhering to individualized care plans developed for each patient.
• Utilize therapeutic exercise techniques to help patients relieve pain, enhance mobility, and support bodily function, including muscle reeducation and gait training.
• Conduct hands-on therapeutic procedures utilizing physical agents such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and massage tailored to each patient's needs.
• Instruct patients on the proper use of assistive devices like wheelchairs, crutches, canes, and orthotic devices to ensure safety and promote independence.
• Monitor and document patients' progress and responses to treatment, communicating effectively with the supervising therapist and medical team to adapt care plans as necessary.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation within prescribed time frames, ensuring compliance with quality standards and legal requirements.
• Engage in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives to enhance clinical practices and outcomes in our facility.
• Participate actively in staff development programs and interdisciplinary group meetings to improve skills and foster a culture of learning.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily focuses on an adult patient population, including individuals recovering from surgeries, injuries, and chronic conditions. Your expertise will help guide patients through their rehabilitation journeys, advising them on strategies and exercises to enhance recovery and maintain optimal health. You will play a crucial role in supporting and motivating patients as they navigate their recovery milestones.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program offering either an Associate's degree in science or applied science recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association.
• Current certification or license as mandated by California state law to practice as a physical therapist assistant.
• Maintain up-to-date CPR certification to ensure a safe environment for patients.
• Possess a valid driver's license, with access to a reliable and insured vehicle to travel for patient-related duties as necessary.

Preferred Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in a clinical setting, preferably within a hospital context.
• Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and patient documentation software to facilitate efficient clinical workflows.
• Background in providing therapy to diverse patient groups, including post-operative and rehabilitation patients.

Compensation and Benefits
