Pharmacy Technician

The Pharmacy Technician works under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists and assists the pharmacists in preparing and distributing drugs, maintaining drug inventories and maintenance of records. Understands and adheres to Baxter Health standards as they appear in Dynamic Health and Healthstream Policy Manager. Required to work with the Director of Pharmacy regularly to carry out, initiate and/or implement best practices for the Baxter Health Employee Pharmacy Department.

Job Requirements:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience: Previous pharmacy technician experience preferred; willing to train individual with initiative and desire to learn.
• Certifications: Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Arkansas required or must apply and submit application for registration prior to date of hire, and obtain registration within thirty (30) days from acceptance of job offer.
• Other: Excellent interpersonal communication skills required to interact with patients, coworkers and other health care professionals. Ability to solve problems, prioritize work in a high-volume environment, and adapt to changes to workload and schedule to meet patient needs. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be able to write legibly, speak and read English proficiently. Must be able to operate computer, calculator, telephone, pager, and other related pharmacy equipment.

Work Environment: Hospital environment to include Emergency Department, Patient Care Units, Patient Rooms and Pharmacy. Potential exposure to hazardous or toxic substances (e.g., chemotherapeutic and/or cytotoxic drugs and cleaning solutions.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a position in an Outpatient Pharmacy setting open M-F 5 days per week. Pharmacy staff: 5 days a week, Monday Friday, 8 hour shifts and may include on call shifts.
