As an Animal Care Specialist, you can count on becoming not just part of a growing company, but a family.POSITION OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE:The Animal Care Specialist is responsible for providing support to breeding, farrowing or wean-finish teams. Work with your manager on establishing a schedule and weekend rotations will be included.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Tasks are dependent upon the department, but may include:Provide care for animals, ensuring they have access to food, water and a comfortable environmentAssist with movement of animalsTreat and vaccinate animalsMaintain accurate documentationAssist in power washingPromote a safe work environmentMaintain PQA certification status (provided on the job)Follow all SFI bio-security policies and proceduresExhibit strong teamwork, including working to achieve team goals, embracing new technologies, working on new projects, etc.Be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. with reasonable accommodationAdditional DutiesDemonstrate Schwartz Farms' values of integrity, respect, excellence and adaptabilityAdvocate and engage in SFI's animal welfare policy, including promoting animal well-being, remedying circumstances which impede animal care, and properly reporting instances of mistreatment or abuseMaintain and promote a safe working environmentAdditional duties may be assigned as they arise
