Job Description Job Description Medical Assistant (MA) Position Summary The Medical Assistant supports providers and clinical staff by performing administrative and clinical duties to ensure efficient patient care, excellent customer service, and compliance with practice standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Patient Care * Room patients and obtain vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, height, weight, oxygen saturation) * Document chief complaint and update patient history * Reconcile medications and allergies * Prepare patients for examinations and procedures * Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures * Administer injections, immunizations, and medications as delegated and permitted by state law * Perform EKGs, spirometry, hearing tests, vision screenings, and other diagnostic testing * Collect specimens and prepare for laboratory processing Clinical Documentation * Accurately document patient information in the EMR * Process provider orders * Complete referrals and authorizations as directed * Review and manage patient messages and clinical tasks * Assist with quality measures and value-based care initiatives Patient Communication * Return patient phone calls and portal messages * Provide patient education and follow-up instructions * Schedule diagnostic testing and specialty referrals * Excellent Customer Service Skills * Coordinate care transitions and hospital follow-up appointments Administrative Responsibilities * Maintain exam room cleanliness and stocking * Monitor inventory and supply levels * Ensure proper vaccine and medication storage * Participate in daily huddles and team meetings * Support practice quality improvement initiatives Qualifications Required * High School Diploma or GED * Medical Assistant certification preferred (CMA, RMA, CCMA) * CPR certification * EMR experience * Excellent communication and customer service skills Preferred * Primary care experience * eClinicalWorks experience * Knowledge of Medicare wellness visits and preventive care * Experience with value-based care programs Skills and Competencies * Strong organizational skills * Attention to detail * Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment * Team-oriented mindset * Professional demeanor * Knowledge of HIPAA regulations Physical Requirements * Standing and walking for extended periods * Ability to lift up to 25 pounds * Frequent bending, reaching, and sitting * Manual dexterity for clinical procedures Performance Expectations at Family Medical Center * Maintain patient satisfaction standards * Complete chart preparation prior to visits * Process clinical tasks within established timeframes * Demonstrate professionalism and teamwork * Support provider productivity and patient flow * Adhere to all compliance, HIPAA, and safety standards Typical Daily Workflow * Pre-visit chart preparation * Rooming and intake * Provider support * Patient follow-up * Task management * End-of-day chart review and room restocking Salary based on experience Candidate must be able to pass a background check Company Description Family Medical Center is a respected, physician-owned primary care practice dedicated to delivering compassionate, high-quality healthcare to our community.
