Mechanical Engineer

Aspen Technical Staffing is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a long-term contract opportunity with potential for direct hire supporting our client in Oak Harbor, OH. This role will support the planning, design, procurement, and quality installation of mechanical systems and equipment for complex industrial projects.

The Mechanical Engineer will work under the direction of a Senior Mechanical Engineer, supporting project-specific objectives while applying engineering principles to develop solutions, evaluate designs, and support the successful execution of mechanical systems and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Support the planning, design, procurement, and quality installation of mechanical systems and equipment.
• Complete project-specific engineering objectives on schedule under the direction of senior engineering personnel.
• Receive assignments involving complex engineering features, objectives, and potential solutions.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, specifications, and computer-generated reports.
• Assist mechanical designers and drafters in developing equipment and piping system designs utilizing CAD and 3D design software.
• Research, design, evaluate, and oversee the installation of mechanical equipment, systems, and processes to meet project requirements.
• Conduct engineering studies and analyses to evaluate the feasibility, design, operation, and performance of equipment, components, and systems.
• Develop and test design models and alternative solutions to evaluate feasibility, operating conditions, potential applications, and required modifications.
• Specify system components and recommend product modifications to ensure compliance with engineering design and performance requirements.
• Apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria while exercising sound judgment in adapting and modifying designs as needed.
• Provide technical support to troubleshoot system issues, resolve malfunctions, and improve system performance.
• Present technical information and engineering recommendations to peers, project teams, and other personnel.
• Develop and provide discipline-specific technical training and guidance to internal teams and customers as needed.
• Collaborate with engineering, design, procurement, and construction teams to support project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience with power plant, process, and/or heavy industrial design projects.
• Knowledge and experience with pipe stress analysis.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles and their practical application.
• Ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions.
• Strong communication skills, including active listening, verbal, and written communication.
• Ability to apply critical thinking, sound judgment, and decision-making skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Demonstrated desire to learn and grow professionally.

Preferred Qualifications

• Engineer-in-Training (FE) certification and Professional Engineer (PE) license, or willingness to obtain both.
• Experience supporting energy, chemical, and/or power design engineering projects.
• Experience with industrial mechanical systems, equipment design, and construction support.
