Job Title

Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown (Float)

Contract | Night Shift | 4x12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)

Key Responsibilities

• Float between PCU and Medical-Surgical units as staffing needs are re-evaluated every four hours; candidates must be comfortable working all PCU and MS units
• Provide stepdown-level nursing care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and titrating cardiac drips
• Manage central line care, trach management, and non-invasive airway support including nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, and chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac)
• Administer IV therapy, perform phlebotomy, and manage blood product administration, PCA and heparin protocols, and IV insulin
• Respond to emergencies as part of Rapid Response and Code teams
• Accurately document patient care using EPIC electronic health records

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia State RN license or active Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Proficiency with EPIC charting required
• Demonstrated experience in telemetry and stepdown-level care (PCU/DOU/IMC)
• Must be willing to work at least one holiday per 13-week contract period
• Must be willing to fulfill weekend requirements, which may include every-other-weekend or six weekend shifts per six-week scheduling block

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Cardiovascular experience in pre- and post-cardiac catheterization settings
• Experience managing endocrine and metabolic conditions
• Comfort with high-acuity float assignments and adapting quickly to varying patient populations
