Payroll Coordinator

Description The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for compiling and recording employee time and payroll data for the entire organization. He/she may compute employees' time worked, production, and commissions. This individual may also compute and post wages and deductions or prepare paychecks. He/she makes suggestions in the decision making and exercises independent judgment with the preparation and calculation of paychecks. The Payroll Coordinator typically exercises substantial discretion under limited supervision and expected to work as long as necessary to perform his/her job responsibilities. Responsibilities Compiles payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, insurance, and other deductions. Polls time sheets and review the information for completeness and accuracy. Contacts various department supervisor for any missed times. Processes weekly payroll data. Compile internal management reports from the payroll system. Performs other tasks assigned by the Payroll Manager. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Essential Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or one or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two to three years of payroll experience. Must have the ability to handle sensitive material. Must be proficient with basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.). Problem solver - exercise discretion and judgment. Time management skills. Punctual. Assumes responsibility. Takes responsibility for exercising independent judgment within areas of responsibility. Can work under stress. Service orientated. Excellent communication skills. Must be able to pass a drug test, background check, and fit for duty test. Desired Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with employees and Senior Management. Strong personal computer skills. Strong ethical conduct.
