Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Responsibilities & RequirementsAs a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, you will work to design, test, improve, and support equipment designed by MiTek for the truss manufacturing industry. In this position you will work on robust machinery design that helps customers to improve their production output. Mechanical Engineers at MiTek design, document, and troubleshoot all components such as overall machine design, structural frames, mechanical power transmission, and manufacturability of machinery. You will design the full mechanical assembly of the automated machine and be involved in every stage of the system from concept to production. Mechanical Engineers work closely with Electrical and Manufacturing Engineers, as well as Production, Software, Customer Service, and other administrative departments to ensure a successful product.Responsibilities:Design, develop, evaluate, and support automated industrial machinery products for the Component Manufacturing (CM) and off-site construction industryLead team members through the planning, development, and deployment of complex mechanical architectures with a high level of integrated automationGenerate mechanical project execution artifacts of small to large scale deployments (i.e. cost estimates, schedules, resource needs, risks, forecasts, status, etc.)Lead mechanical team members through staged-gating process (i.e. requirements reviews, design reviews, test readiness reviews, verification reviews, etc.)Lead team members through troubleshooting and root cause/corrective actionsDesign, integrate and test mechanical parts and assemblies using industry best practicesDesign, integrate and test industrial pneumatic and hydraulic systemsDesign, integrate and test industrial electro-mechanical & robotic systemsDevelop and maintain project documentation (i.e. system requirements, engineering drawings, equipment manuals, test plans, project notes, etc.)Ensure compliance with MiTek engineering procedures, guidelines, industry standards, and governmental regulations applicable to industrial machineryPerform engineering analysis and calculations where applicable (including FEA analysis)Enter new/update existing data in MRP/ERP systemSupport Manufacturing, Marketing & Sales, Purchasing, Installation, and Customer Service organizations throughout a product’s lifecycleReview/stay current with industry trends and emerging technologiesMentor less experienced Mechanical Engineers and DesignersManage individual tasking while leading other Engineers through project execution with minimal oversightSome travel required (up to 20% during critical on-site activities)Other duties as assignedRequirements:Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university required5+ years of mechanical engineering design experience focused on machinery and automated systemsEquivalent combination of experience and education which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute on a year for year basisStrong understanding of strength of materials, statics, and dynamicsProficiency with SolidWorks, PDM, and AutoCAD MechanicalProficiency in machined, formed and welded designs and drawings using GD&TProficiency in pneumatic, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical systemsProficiency with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.)Ability to rapidly diagnose and troubleshoot automated machineryAbility to work individually and as part of a teamDemonstrated ability to work well under pressure & deadlinesStrong planning, organizational, and decision-making skillsStrong communication skills to interact frequently with stakeholdersMiTek Perks:Generous time off including Paid Time Off, 13 annual holidays, and volunteer time offDay One Medical/Rx, Dental and Vision PlansFamily friendly benefits including Paid Caregiver Leave, Paid Parental Leave and Adoption ReimbursementPerformance/Incentive bonusesCareer advancement, training opportunities, Employee Resource Groups, and tuition reimbursementRetirement programs including Matching 401(k) Contributions and Profit SharingEmployer paid Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability and Life InsurancemyFlexPay partner – allows you to track, manage and access your pay anytimeMiTek is a platform innovator and enabler that exists to transform the building industry with better building solutions.
