Job Description

This role focuses on receiving, processing, and organizing incoming materials while supporting shipping, inventory control, and general warehouse operations in a mixed-use facility. You will work closely with the supply chain team to ensure accurate inventory records, efficient material flow, and a clean, safe work environment. This is a part-time, first-shift position requiring consistent weekly availability and a minimum three-month commitment, with the potential for longer-term or permanent opportunities based on performance and business needs.

Responsibilities

• Receive and process incoming purchase orders using a computerized MRP system.

• Accept deliveries, verify contents, label items, and stock materials in designated inventory locations.

• Maintain clean, organized, and clearly labeled inventory storage areas to support efficient material flow.

• Operate forklifts and pallet jacks to move, unload, and stage freight shipments safely and efficiently.

• Perform shipping and receiving tasks, including packaging, order pulling, packing, and preparing materials for outbound shipment.

• Monitor and control inventory levels, ensuring accurate counts and proper placement of stock.

• Communicate any discrepancies, damages, or issues with shipments or inventory to the Supervisor or Supply Chain team promptly.

• Collaborate closely with the supply chain department and other team members to support ongoing initiatives and operational goals.

• Participate in training new personnel on shipping, receiving, inventory, and safety procedures.

• Support and promote LEAN and High Performance Team (HPT) practices to improve processes and reduce waste.

• Follow 5S principles to maintain an orderly, efficient, and safe work area at all times.

• Consistently adhere to safety protocols, including proper use of PPE and equipment, and report any hazards.

• Perform standard daily tasks as well as ad hoc assignments as needed to support overall operations.

• Sit or stand for extended periods depending on assigned station and adjust to different tasks within the facility as required.

Essential Skills

• Experience with shipping and receiving operations in a warehouse or similar environment.

• Hands-on experience with material handling, including loading, unloading, and moving materials.

• Proficiency in inventory control activities such as counting, stocking, and organizing materials.

• Ability to perform order pulling, packing, and warehouse packing with strong attention to detail.

• Experience operating forklifts and pallet jacks in a safe and controlled manner.

• Comfort using a computerized MRP system and basic computer skills for data entry and record keeping.

• Ability to perform general labor tasks in a warehouse or production setting.

• Capability to sit and stand for long periods of time, depending on station assignment.

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion.

• Comfort wearing a smock, gloves, and shoe covers throughout the shift.

• Comfort working in a slightly industrial environment that may involve grease and other industrial residues.

• Willingness to commit to the role for a minimum of 3 months, with reliable attendance and punctuality.

• Strong reliability, flexibility, and proactive problem-solving skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in warehouse production or warehouse inventory roles.

• Experience in logistics, shipping and receiving, or distribution environments.

• Prior exposure to medical device or assembly environments, with the ability to adapt to a more industrial setting.

• Familiarity with LEAN principles and High Performance Team (HPT) practices.

• Experience working within 5S frameworks and continuous improvement cultures.

• Strong detail orientation and accuracy when handling orders, inventory, and documentation.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a small, cross-functional team including shipping, receiving, customer service, and accounting.

• Comfort working in environments with evolving supply chain dynamics and changing priorities.

Work Environment

This role is part of a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, typically from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with an expected workload of approximately 8 to 10 hours per week. You will work in a mixed-use facility that includes a large room with multiple assembly stations, machinery, warehouse areas, and R&D labs. The team structure is lean, with small shipping and receiving groups, a focused customer service function, and a compact accounting presence, which encourages close collaboration and clear communication. The environment is slightly industrial and may involve exposure to grease and other industrial materials, making it more hands-on than a cleanroom or traditional medical device assembly setting. Personal protective equipment, including safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, and a smock, is provided and must be worn as required. Shoe covers and a smock are part of the standard attire, and you should be comfortable working in PPE for the duration of the shift. The facility emphasizes 5S, LEAN, and safety practices, and the team operates with a high level of reliability and adaptability due to shifting supply chain conditions.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rohnert Park, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
