We are seeking full-time Physician Assistant to join the Trauma Team at South Texas Health System (STHS) McAllen. \n Call: Night shift trauma coverage
\n Patient Volume: High-volume trauma level 1 center
\n Location: McAllen, Texas (Rio Grande Valley)
\n Practice Setting: Level I Trauma Center within South Texas Health System (STHS)
\n Support / Care Team: Multidisciplinary trauma surgery team with APPs and surgeons
\n EMR / Technology: Cerner electronic medical record system

Responsibilities
\n Manage pre-operative and post-operative trauma patients in coordination with trauma surgeons
\n Perform tertiary evaluations of trauma admissions and provide episodic or problem-oriented care under physician direction
\n Assist with trauma quality performance improvement initiatives
\n Conduct complex patient care procedures usually performed by trauma surgeons but delegated to PAs
\n Assess patient complaints and deliver appropriate treatments
\n Perform minor surgical procedures as delegated by supervising physician
\n Utilize advanced assessment skills to anticipate and communicate complex patient issues
\n Order and interpret labs and diagnostic tests in collaboration with trauma surgeons
\n Monitor treatment plans and update trauma surgeons with critical information
\n Respond promptly to emergency trauma alerts
\n Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications
\n Certified Physician Assistant with appropriate trauma experience preferred
\n Active or eligible Texas medical license or certification
\n Trauma care experience highly desirable
