Custodian I

Title: Custodian I

Means personnel employed to keep building clean and free of refuse. Performs assigned tasks in keeping school building clean and attractive for the educational environment.

Job Description: Keeps building clean and free of refuse, also keep building attractive for the purpose of providing adequate educational environment for students and faculty. Maintaining positive work habit. Performing efficiently and productively. Maintaining and/or upgrading skills.

Dimension: Reports to either the head custodian or building supervisor. Operates various floor scrubbing machines, buffers, and vacuum cleaners and performs very minor maintenance to keep these machines serviceable.

Nature and Scope: Receives verbal or written instructions from the head custodians and is usually given responsibility for certain areas.

Duties:

• Daily sweeps, dusts, mops or buffs.
• Daily cleans and sanitizes.
• Daily cleans unusual classroom spills on demand.
• Daily remove all waste and trash.
• Washes windows and waxes floors.
• Insures that unnecessary lights are turned off to conserve electricity.
• Insures that the building is securely locked.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Custodian II

Title: Custodian II

Means personnel employed as a watchman or grounds man. Performs assigned tasks in keeping the school building safe and secure.

Job Description: Performs assigned tasks in keeping the school building safe and secure for both faculty and students.

Dimension: Report to the head custodian or building supervisor. Perform very minor maintenance duties. Incumbent most likely will be required to work evenings or nights after school is dismissed.

Nature and Scope: Receives verbal or written instructions from head custodian or building supervisor on responsibilities.

Duties:

• Insures that the building is securely locked.
• Assist in removing snow and ice when necessary.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Custodian III

Title: Custodian III

Personnel employed to keep buildings clean and free of refuse, to operate the heating and cooling systems and to make minor repairs. Perform assigned tasks in keeping building clean and attractive for the educational environment.

Job Description: Performs assigned tasks in keeping school buildings and grounds clean, safe, and attractive for the purpose of providing adequate educational environment for students and faculty.

Dimension: Reports to the building supervisor. Operates various floor scrubbing machines, buffers, and vacuum cleaners. Operates and does maintenance on heating and cooling systems and make minor repairs.

Nature and Scope: Receives verbal or written instructions from building supervisor.

Duties:

• Daily sweeps, dusts, mops or buffs all areas of the building.
• Daily cleans areas with vacuum cleaners and assists in wet cleaning these areas when appropriate.
• Daily removes all waste and prepares it for proper disposal.
• Insures that the building is securely locked.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by building supervisor.
