Description & Mission You aren't just running a program; you are building a movement in Erie. Your goal is to lead a team of volunteers to create a space where middle schoolers feel known, loved, and invited into a relationship with Jesus. You are the "face" of WyldLife at the school and the lead coach for your volunteer team. Core Responsibilities Pray regularly for the leaders on your team and for the kids they know Spend time with Jesus on a regular basis [daily, weekly, monthly rhythms] Have an active and growing faith Team Leadership & Coaching (Relational Core) Disciple & Develop: Actively mentor your volunteer leaders. You aren’t just their boss, you are their guide in ministry. Community Building: Create a “radical community” among your leaders through consistent encouragement, accountability, and shared experiences. 1:1 Connection: Meet with every leader on your team at least once a semester to check on their soul and ministry. Strategic Execution Club Coordination: Lead the team in planning and executing high energy outreach clubs each month. School Presence: Spend 1-2 hours a week “on-the-ground” at the school - being a visible, trusted adult for students and staff. Growth: Recruit 1-2 new leaders and 3-4 key parents into the community each year to ensure the ministry is sustainable and local. Essential Administration Communication: Have effective communication with parents, kids, leaders, and key people in the community through weekly & daily rhythms. Planning: Set semester goals with the WL director and maintain a weekly to-do list to stay ahead of the rhythm of the school year. Collaboration: Meet with the Wyldlife Director twice a month for coaching and area-wide strategy. Qualifications Leader of Leaders: You have a natural ability to recruit, motivate, and organize adults toward a common goal. Deeply Relational: You enjoy networking with parents, school admin, and students. Active Faith: A growing relationship with Jesus Christ and active involvement in a local church. Local Heart: A passion for the specific students and families in Erie. Time Required Club/Groups = 5 hours/week Team Leader Meetings w/ supervisor = 1-2 hours [2x/month] Leader 1:1 Meetings = 1 hour/every-other week Ministry Prep = 1-2 hours a week (parent email, team email, social media, club powerpoint, club talk training, inviting) Time at School = 1-2 hour a week Measurements Of Success Team Health: Your leaders are growing spiritually and feel supported in their roles. You know where they are at from 1:1 meetings. Consistency: Club and Campaigners happen on schedule with clear communication to families. Outreach: Leaders are focussed on inviting new kids to clubs and camp. Contact work is prioritized by leaders and yourself. Presence: You have maintained a weekly “on-the-ground” presence at the middle school. Systems: You have systems to track leader 1:1’s, contact work, clubs, campaigners, and communication. Meetings: You have attended 90% of all TL meetings and leader meetings. Required before hire: put together time block calendar for YL work. Required to create weekly to-do list. Required to set semester ministry goals. Not included in job hours but expected - [Leadership camp, Area leadership meetings, Snow Camp, Summer Camp] Attend area events as needed (banquet, golf tourney, retreats, etc...). Mission Through both training and direct field ministry experience, learn how to lead and participate in effective Young Life ministry. Ministry Functions Spiritual Development Develop a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life including time for solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer and a sincere commitment to understanding God’s Word. Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines, in the context of active participation in a church community. Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community. Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development. Leadership Development Meet with your volunteer leaders and area leadership on a regular basis. Learn to recruit and train new leaders to build a leadership team that reflects the community. Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners and camping to other leaders. Assist in training leaders, team leaders and committee how to work effectively in teams and develop a yearly ministry strategy. Resource Development Raise financial support as directed and maintain good donor care practices. Communicate ministry updates and progress to personal donor partners. Observe and learn to network and develop strategic relationships with key adults in the community, including principals, pastors, parents, potential committee members as assigned by the area director. Assist with camp fundraisers. Direct Ministry Actively engage in all three levels of contact work. Lead a team to plan and conduct a new or existing Young Life club and Campaigners/discipleship ministry with excellence. Lead a team to implement a summer and school-season camping strategy for a ministry. Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life camp each year. Ministry Support Adhere to all Young Life policies and procedures and maintain professionalism concerning office hours, dress, conduct and time management. Manage finances with stewardship, accountability and transparency using the mission-wide applications. Maintain accurate information on kids, leaders and donors for area records. Provide clear, prompt, appropriate and professional communication to everyone involved in ministry. Set yearly strategic ministry plan and initiatives to reach every kid; review them on a regular basis. Perform other duties as assigned and congruent with gifts, experience and area needs. Training None is required. RTD training events such as New Staff Training, Winter Training, Focus Conferences and Young Life University are available on a request basis with approval of the regional director. Regional Training There is no mission-wide regional-level training curriculum. At the regional director’s prerogative, certain regional training events may be required. Area Training Actively engage in training provided by area leadership. Individualized training supervised by the area director designed to develop personal spiritual maturity and enhance personal character. Individualized program to learn and gain competency in ministry skills (e.g., The 5 C’s). Become familiar with area strategy and ministry health as assigned by the area director. Introduction to personal fund-raising principles including familiarity with Basic Elements for Part-time staff. Education College degree preferred.
