Tool Room Supervisor

Job Description Job Description Title: Tool Room Team Lead / Supervisor Location: Germantown, WI Hours: 6am-3pm Monday-Thursday, 6am-10am Friday Job Summary: Manages the tool room activities and tool makers to complete all new die builds, die maintenance, prototypes, troubleshooting and gage and fixture projects. Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists’ hand tools by performing the following duties. Key Responsibilities & Duties: Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings to determine tooling and machining requirements. Set up, operate, and adjust machine tools including lathes, mills, grinders, and related equipment. Fabricate, assemble, modify, repair, and maintain tools, dies, fixtures, and machined components. Measure and inspect parts using precision instruments to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards. Plan machining operations, tooling requirements, and production sequences. Perform equipment setup, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs as needed. Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, hoists, and cranes. Maintain accurate tooling records and ensure proper organization of tooling and work areas. Follow all safety policies and conduct routine safety and quality inspections. Communicate effectively with production teams, supervisors, and support personnel regarding tooling, quality, and production needs. Leadership Responsibilities Supervise assigned Tool Makers and Tool Room personnel. Assign projects and prioritize daily workflow within the tool room. Provide guidance on tooling, machining processes, and continuous improvement initiatives. Accountability Independently set up, inspect, process, and document work according to established procedures and timelines. Maintain tooling inventory, records, and equipment readiness. Escalate and obtain approval for changes involving tooling design, product dimensions, product function, production quantities, or scheduling. Education & Preferred Qualifications: Associate degree in Tool & Die, Machining, Machine Tool Technology, Sheet Metal Technology, or a related technical field preferred. Journeyman certification or equivalent hands-on toolmaking experience. Equivalent combination of education, vocational training, and relevant manufacturing experience will be considered. Knowledge & Expertise Manufacturing processes, tooling, quality control, and production operations. Mechanical systems, machine tools, equipment maintenance, and repair. Blueprint reading, shop mathematics, measurements, and geometric calculations. Production planning, workflow coordination, and resource management. Required Skills Quality inspection and precision measurement techniques. Machine setup, operation, monitoring, and process control. Troubleshooting equipment and identifying root causes of issues. Strong communication and active listening skills. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and manuals. Required Abilities High level of manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Ability to visualize tooling, assemblies, and machining processes. Strong attention to detail and precision when working with tight tolerances. Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and follow established procedures.
