Primary duties will be teaching fundamental courses in Mechanical Engineering, such as design communication, engineering mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, or mechanical design, or design communication. Candidates with industry experience are encouraged to apply. Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. About the Department Located on the central coast of California, the Cal Poly Mechanical Engineering program is nationally recognized for its focus on undergraduate education through a laboratory-intensive, hands-on curriculum. The department is a dedicated community of faculty, staff, and students who strive to design innovative solutions to complex societal problems through creativity and engineering expertise. The department has over 1300 BSME undergraduates and 50 MSME students. The undergraduate program includes five concentrations: Energy Resources, HVAC&R, Manufacturing, Mechatronics and a General Concentration, which culminates with a full year industry-sponsored senior project experience.
