Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Critical Care Float Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:00) Experience: Minimum 1 year; 1st Timers are accepted License: GA or Compact license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Experience in accessing/managing ports - Arterial line management - BiPAP/CPAP management/maintenance - Blood product administration - Care of ventilated patients - Central line care/management - CVA/Acute stroke management - External ventricular drain management - GI surgery experience - High flow nasal cannula management - ICP monitoring - Phlebotomy skills - PICC line management - Post-neurosurgery management - Ventilator management Description: The position requires a registered nurse with experience in critical care settings. The nurse will float primarily to ICU but may float to other medical-surgical and telemetry units as needed. The nurse will care for adult to geriatric patients with various diagnoses. Daily patient ratios include 1:2-3 in ICU and up to 1:6 in medical-surgical units. The role involves working with an interdisciplinary support team that includes various specialty services. Holiday work is required if assigned during major holidays, with expectations outlined for holiday shifts. Full compliance with onboarding and training is required to ensure a timely start. Candidates must be proficient in using electronic health record systems, specifically Epic. Emerging needs in patient care may require acute response and critical thinking skills. Team collaboration is crucial in delivering high-quality patient care. The nurse should demonstrate effective communication and maintain isolation precautions as necessary. Willingness to float and adapt to different unit environments is essential. Responsibilities include monitoring and responding to patient needs and implementing care protocols effectively. Additional duties may include managing dysrhythmias and conducting phlebotomy as required.
