About the Job: About The Job: Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting for a Retail Collector. The Retail Collector will be responsible for managing the 1-29 days overdue accounts and ensuring timely payments from customers. This role requires effective communication, strong negotiation skills, and a commitment to maintaining positive customer relationships. MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES: Collections Management Contact customers with overdue accounts through various communication channels (phone, email, letters) to facilitate payments. Negotiate payment arrangements with customers while adhering to company policies and regulations Maintain accurate records of all collection activities, payments, and communications with customers Customer Engagement Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and concerns related to outstanding balances. Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, offering solutions to help them meet their financial obligations Reporting Generate and analyze reports on collection activities, outstanding balances, and payment trends. Collaborate with the management team to provide regular updates on collection performance. Compliance Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations governing debt collection practices Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in debt collection. Documentation Prepare and review documentation related to debt collection, including repayment agreements and legal notices when necessary. May be assigned other duties as needed. Required Skills: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• High School diploma or equivalent; a bachelor's degree in a related field a plus.
• Proven experience in debt collection or a similar role within the retail industry.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing debt collection.
• Proficiency in using collection software and Microsoft Office suite.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
• Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail.

SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area. Ability to use standard computer and phone systems is required

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal office environment where there is almost no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements. Work includes little or no potential exposure to hazardous conditions. Must be able to travel to remote company and/or client locations.
