Position Museum Education & Public Programs Coordinator Employer Chandler Museum, City of Chandler Cultural Development Department Location Chandler, Arizona, United States (on-site) Job Type Full‑Time Job Duration Indefinite Salary $73,819.00 – $106,995.00 per year Schedule 40 hours per week, Tuesday through Friday. Regular weekend work on Saturdays and Sundays, never more than every other weekend. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in museum studies, social science, public history, or related field; 3-5 years of experience within a museum setting; 3-5 years of experience in education and programming within a museum setting; a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record; or equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work. Responsibilities Supervises and oversees the daily operations of the assigned area by setting goals and objectives, managing schedules and work priorities, monitoring and evaluating performance, facilitating access to resources and training, providing guidance and addressing issues, conducting interviews and making hiring decisions. Assists the Museum Manager and the Museum Senior Program Manager with program development and implementation in the area of assignment, along with the development of the Museum’s Strategic plan as well as planning and implementing programs. Works collaboratively with other institutions and community partners. Researches and develops written materials and presentations for educational programs and exhibits. Oversees, develops program curricula and learning goals for all public‑facing (pre‑K, child, family and adult) programs at all museum facilities. Conceptualizes, plans, and executes educational activities, including school group visits, summer camps, workshops, and public programs that align with museum exhibitions. Develops and oversees field trip programs for all museum facilities in conjunction with local school district representatives. Oversees the development of interactive aspects of exhibitions (e.g., interpretive materials) and ensures programs align with educational objectives. Analyzes visitor feedback and program effectiveness to report findings to stakeholders and improve future programs. Manages, trains, and schedules education staff, educators, docents, and interns, including hiring and conducting performance evaluations. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Standard museum operating procedures including exhibit planning, development and implementation as well as proper methods of storing, cleaning and processing a variety of specimens or artifacts; collections management practices. Develops and implements educational programming for both children and adults; possesses knowledge and appreciation for city history; applies marketing strategies and public relations; demonstrates proficiency in English grammar, spelling and punctuation; prepares fundraising and grant applications. Understands and abides by Federal OSHA, state and county regulations and city policies regarding risk management and safe work practices. Demonstrates supervisory skill and performance evaluation; uses logical and creative problem‑solving processes to develop solutions according to written specifications and/or oral instructions; coordinates a variety of tasks simultaneously; operates a personal computer and related software or programs. Operates a motor vehicle and abides by traffic laws and rules. Follows and generates oral and written instructions and communicates effectively both orally and in writing. Presents a positive public image and maintains effective working relationships with other city employees and the public.
