Corrections Refrigeration Mechanic Trade Instructor - SCI Albion

Become a key part of the Department of Corrections (DOC) as a Corrections Refrigeration Mechanic Trade Instructor at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Albion. As a Corrections Refrigeration Mechanic Trade Instructor, you will perform the following duties: Trade Instruction: Teach refrigeration and air conditioning installation, repair, inspection, and maintenance Crew Oversight: Direct inmate work crews, monitor work quality, and inspect completed assignments Tool Management: Issue tools, track inventory, and conduct searches to ensure all items remain accounted Material Planning: Determine needed supplies, submit purchase requests, and manage materials for projects Documentation Duties: Maintain records of inmate progress, attendance, and project assignments Classroom Management: Maintain order and apply instructional methods and trade curriculum that support skill development Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information Full-time employment, 40 hours per week Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements Five years of experience in the repair and servicing of refrigeration systems or air conditioning systems; or Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade. Special Requirements You must be in possession of an active Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certificate issued by an approved provider. Other Requirements Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must meet the PA residency requirement.
