Are you a technically skilled, design-driven architect looking to take the next step in your career? We’re seeking a Project Architect to join our Residential team in Pleasanton, CA . This role is ideal for someone who thrives on leading project documentation, solving design challenges, and collaborating across teams to deliver thoughtful, high-quality low-density residential work including single family detached, townhouses, and condos. This is a hybrid position, requiring a minimum of 3 days per week onsite at our Pleasanton, CA office.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Lead QA/QC reviews of project documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with design intent and client expectations, with a focus on townhouse and single-family detached residential projects.
• Take the lead on architectural assignments for moderate to complex residential projects, applying advanced design and technical skills.
• Perform analysis of design, planning, and layout solutions that support project goals.
• Gather and evaluate relevant data and translate findings into actionable design decisions.
• Provide architectural consultation from Schematic Design through permitting and Construction Administration, ensuring they meet established specifications and quality standards.
• Direct and oversee the production of design and construction documents; ensure alignment with codes, budgets, and design intent.
• Mentor staff and provide technical guidance to elevate their professional growth.
• Maintain ongoing communication with clients, outside consultants, Project Manager, and Project Team to ensure a seamless project experience.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

• Deep experience supporting technical and design development for a wide range of project types—low density residential preferred.
• Proven experience leading QA/QC processes to maintain high-quality design and construction documentation.
• Deep understanding of the International Building Code (IBC) , California Building Code (CBC) , and California Residential Code (CRC) .
• A curiosity-driven mindset, with a desire to explore new perspectives and a commitment to continuous learning and growth.
• Strong knowledge of building codes and an ability to navigate and apply code constraints creatively.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to lead, collaborate, and build strong working relationships.
• A self-motivated and reliable work ethic, with the ability to perform effectively both independently and within a team.
• Leadership skills that support and elevate early career professionals.
• High proficiency in Revit/BIM and SketchUp.
• Strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent deadlines.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

• Licensed & registered Architect in the state of CA.
• 5+ years of experience.
• Bachelor or Master of Architecture (required).
• Recent experience working on architectural projects within the United States. 
• Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. building codes, permitting processes, and construction practices. 
• Experience coordinating with U.S.-based clients, consultants, and regulatory agencies. 
• Commitment to their own professional growth.
• Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States without any restrictions. Please note that visa sponsorship is not offered for this position.

We offer a competitive compensation package based on experience and qualifications. Excellent benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage. We also offer the opportunity to participate in a pre-tax Flexible Spending plan, Employee Stock Ownership Plan, and 401k.

Salary Range : $90,000 - $110,000 depending on qualifications. Placement within this pay range will be determined by factors such as education, qualifications, project complexity and/or experience. The maximum is reserved for candidates who currently meet all job requirements. We believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
